ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLANNING BY Volta River Authority( VRA)

The Volta River Authority (VRA) organized a one-day stakeholder workshop at the the Fanteakwa North District Assembly conference to talk about the plan for environmental management.

The VRA officials were cordially welcomed by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Osumanu Abubakar.

Several topics covered during the presentation included:
The Four Pressures:

  • Illegal Sand Winning: How it destroys breeding grounds for fish and weakens the ground.
  • Deforestation: Removing the vegetation of the earth that protects the water.
  • Farming on Riverbanks: How chemicals and loose soil pollute the lake.
  • Poor Waste Disposal: Turning a source of life into a health hazard.

    VRA has rolled out the digitalized system of scholarship application and has directed now applicants to access it for 2025/2026 academio year

  • Cashew plantations covering a total of 65.5 hectares in the Biakoye and Oti Regions.
